If you’re reading this, it’s likely that you have your provisional license and you are currently undertaking driving lessons in preparation for the big day – or you may even be learning in a car that you’ve recently purchased from Motorspark.
A lot of learners aren’t familiar with the amount of test centres there are available, so there may not be one located in your local area. Why does this matter?
We encourage you to be familiar with the area you’re going to take your driving test in, learning the roads and gaining that all important confidence ready for the big day.
So, what are my local test centres and where are they located?
In Worcestershire, there are two specific driving test centres – located in Worcester and Redditch – so it’s likely that you will be taking your test at either one of these. Your driving instructor will be able to advise you on which centre is the best option for you, but if you’re wondering about your options in more detail, here is a little more information.
Worcester Driving Test Centre
Located at 8 Stanier Road, Worcester, Worcestershire, WR4 9FE, this test centre is in in the north-east of the city, so the roads aren’t as busy as you’d expect. Being accessible from main roads like the A449, A4440, A38 and the M5, this is a test centre that is easy to access.
Please note that Worcester Driving Test Centre only offers driving tests for cars, if you are on the look-out for a motorcycle test centre – keep reading!
Redditch Driving Test Centre
Located at Elm Road, Redditch, Worcestershire, B97 6HJ, it is easily accessible via major roads like the A441, A448, and A435, making it a convenient choice for residents in and around Redditch. Top Tips from Motorspark
Before you consider booking your driving test, you need to ensure you have passed your theory test, which ensures that you understand the rules of the road and safely identify potential hazards whilst driving. Without passing your theory test, you won’t be able to take your practical driving test.
Where can I take my driving theory test?
You can take your theory test in Worcester and Redditch, although they are not in the same location as the practical test centres mentioned above. You can find other theory test centre locations in Bromsgrove, Cheltenham, Kidderminster, Dudley and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Book your theory test ahead of time!
Booking ahead of time is very important, as the waiting list can be a long one. The COVID-19 pandemic had a huge knock-on effect for learners looking to book their practical and theory tests – and even in 2024, the waiting list is longer than before the pandemic. With that said, we advise that you book your theory well in advance to secure your preferred date and time – and make sure you practice ahead of time! There are plenty of apps and literature available to help you pass first time.
Despite the DVSA ending the publication of specific driving test routes in 2010, practicing near the centre you will be taking your test will help reduce your nerves and increase confidence; helping you become familiar with the roads, traffic patterns and potential hazards. This is key!
To book your driving test, visit the DVSA website.
